Six-Figure Hotline: Interviewing But No Offers

"Exploit the summer while others job searchers take a break." That's what Don Weintraub, ExecuNet's Managing Director of Career Services, suggested in a program for members at the start of the summer. Understandably, many job seekers take a break during the summer to recharge, but Don advised getting a jump on the competition and not taking a summer break. His beginning of the summer program was a huge hit with members and designed to greatly increase your chances of getting hired by Labor Day. If you didn't follow his advice then, you still can now. Labor Day is upon us, but these guidelines will still help your fall job search.

Named by Businessweek as one of the 25 most influential people on the Internet, Joichi Ito believes there is much we can still learn from nature. We are so big and interconnected that what we do no longer has only local impact. The next step in technology use is connected to biology.

The wave of the future in medicine, he stated, is in genetics, and the advances in genetics are going to come from computer people. "Synthetic biology is a lot like computer programming. Codes design a gene sequence for bacteria and they do what they're told," he said. It is efficient and sustainable — but expensive. However, the cost is dropping.
